Summary: Develop innovative, leading-edge GaN and GaAs-based Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs); provide technical expertise and guidance to engineering staff; act as technical contact between production and engineering; support bid and proposal efforts, customer interface and new product development; design architecture for highly-integrated MMICs and/or modules, proposal writing, develop budgets and schedules; hold design reviews for multiple programs; apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle. Essential Functions and Duties: Leads design activity for GaN and GaAs-based MMIC development programs; manage sub-circuit integration for highly-integrated MMICs and/or module designs. Use RF simulation tool to perform cascade chain analysis, stability analysis, yield analysis, DC budgets, thermal analysis, etc. as part of the design flow methodology. Perform necessary modeling activities (linear, non-linear, EM) to assist in the design or troubleshooting of MMICS. Perform statistical analysis on MMIC measurement database using software tools. Prepares and presents technical material to customers during regularly held meetings. Develops new technology and provides inputs to the technology and product roadmaps. Design and lead MMIC packaging efforts. Prepare and lead failure analysis plan and efforts if/when required. Mentors and teaches other MMIC designers as appropriate. Makes customer presentations giving updates on design status and issues. Defines, designs, and builds hardware required to test MMICs. Orders parts as needed. Develops and writes or supervises writing of test plans. Tests and/or supervises testing of MMICs. Develops test limits for production testing of MMICs. Supports MMIC production as needed. Develops and implements MMIC qualification plans. Participates in safety training and actively complies with safety policies and practices. Improve and maintain 5S in your area; makes suggestions for improvement. Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work areas as well as events for other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving. Collaborate in team meetings and activities. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Job Qualifications: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.) Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), including analog IC design or MMIC design experience; Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or PhD in EE preferred. Experience: Ten (10) or more years of experience designing Microwave/Millimeter-wave power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, phase shifter or attenuator MMICs and/or hybrid-based components and multi-chip transmit/receive modules. Expert level user of microwave and EM simulation tools such as AWR, ADS, or Cadence required. Experience in advanced compound semiconductor technologies such as GaN, and/or GaAs required. Expert understanding of microwave measurements and calibration methods: S-parameters, power, efficiency, source/load pull, noise figure, linearity and intermodulation distortion. Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read, interpret and comprehend written and verbal instructions; communicate across organizational levels; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities; proficient English reading level to understand technical terminology used within the organization; Math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent; Computer skills: ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as SAP, Windows and/or Windows like interface using Microsoft Office suite; CAD/drawing-viewing programs, and other software programs as required. Time Management & Organizational skills: adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to focus on task at hand and meet expected time completion (ETC); ability to keep an organized work station and materials.
