Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Incumbent services as an Assistant Manager in the Southwest Certificate Management Office (SWA CMO) He/she shares in planning, administering of the office work programs to promote safety in all aviation activities. In the absence of the office manager, the incumbent may assume full responsibility and authority for all decision-making in a variety of administrative and technical areas. Assists in the responsibility for the direction and accomplishment of all functions and programs of the Southwest Airlines CMO, from both Airworthiness and Operations, technical and administrative standpoint. Performs all supervisory duties, i.e. interviews/selection of candidates, hears grievance/employee complaints, reviews training needs, makes managerial decisions which promote a positive image of the FAA, actively support the human relations program and relates the model EEO concepts to overall responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Travel Required 25% or less - The job may require up to 25% travel. Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for an Aviation Safety Inspector in the 1825 series as outlined in the OPM qualification standards. The minimum eligibility requirements for this position are below or may be found on the following link: ************************************************************************************************************************************************* General Requirements for All Positions: - Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years; - Valid State driver's license; - Fluency in the English language; - No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance; and - High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Requirements for All Positions: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, and must meet all of the following requirements: - Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted) without strain; - Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); - Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others or that would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft. AND In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants for the FV-K level must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression (FG-14 or Pay Band J), as an Aviation Safety Inspector, 1825. Examples of Specialized Experience include: * Responsible for leading, planning, prioritizing, directing, communicating, and assigning work within the office. * Promotes team work and strives to improve internal and external business practices. * Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements. * Applies an advanced knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures.
