As the Director - Quality Assurance at Michaels you will be responsible for determining the tools, techniques, and methodologies to ensure the effective release of software features and products. This position will be responsible for leading QA efforts during the development lifecycle, including the overall test strategy and integration efforts to ensure smooth product launches.Major Activities

• Define QA strategy and drive execution
• Establish QA goals, policies, and procedures
• Drive continuous improvement activities related to QA
• Be the voice and advocate for quality, coordinating testing, and looking for new and innovative ways to test better
• Ensure quality controls are identified and reviewed from beginning to end of release
• Be involved in feature signoffs and demos
• Implement best practices in software testing methodologies, with primary focus on automated test frameworks and scripts to drive efficiency and productivity
• Establish Center of Excellence for Software Quality Assurance
• Communicate status and key quality metrics to help drive improvements as necessary.
• Provide Technology QA support as needed across all teams to drive success of projects.Team Leadership
  • Lead team of QA engineers that focus on manual and automated testing for applications and technologies across the company.
  • Hire and lead QA team responsible for delivering growth related initiatives.
  • Be responsible for the growth of the team including individuals' career growth, skill set development, and hiring the right resources.
  • Provide mentorship with a lens on continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.Other duties as assignedMinimum Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experienceMinimum Special Certifications or technical skills
      • Experience in automation test methodologies and tools (e.g. Selenium), including complex API, Microservices, and/or data solutions across multiple technologies and cloud platforms.Minimum Type of experience the job requires
        • 10+ years of experience in Technology QA
        • 5+ years managing Technology QA team
        • Solid engineering foundation indicated by a demonstrated understanding of life cycle, software development practices and support services
        • Experience testing scalable, flexible software development systems
        • Experience in building, managing, defining and implementing QA methodologies, processes, procedures, systems and schedules that will ensure delivery of high-quality releases
        • Experience in defining and driving testing strategy and plans for complete releases, including regression, functional, exploratory and other testingOther
          • Ability to navigate a rapidly changing landscape, while handling multiple responsibilities
          • Curious about new technology and always looking to acquire new knowledge
          • Strong business and financial acumen
          • Computer Science fundamentals
          • Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain high quality talent
          • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
          • Excellent project management skills
