The Digital Software Engineering Senior Group Manager manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a Managing Director role and function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of businessHead of MarTech Engineering will drive technology advancements to drive Citis Personal Banking and Wealth Management (PBWM) strategic vision for transforming Citis marketing technology platforms and tools to deliver against the US Personal Banking vision of embedding always on and personalized marketing offers into customer interactions. This leader will play a key role in helping empower this transformation towards innovative technical thought leadership in building end-state marketing journeys with automation and modernize our offer management infrastructure, resulting in an interconnected end-state execution ecosystem. This team is also responsible for leading execution for new and emerging marketing programs. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the relevant systems, practices and technologies in the Martech space, as well as practical and proven experience in the delivery of large-scale implementations involving multiple teams across the organization. The role will manage multiple agile teams of engineers to create feature rich, efficient, and scalable digital applications. The right person will be passionate about technology, scalability and latest technologies and have strong technical, business, and managerial skills to help design, build, and review the team's implementations.Ideal leader of leaders will have a background in high-throughput, distributed cloud transaction processing platforms; A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business.   • Take the lead on the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale or significantly difficult software solutions that have a long-term impact on a product, technology or architecture.
  • Design approaches and the code you personally contribute is noteworthy in some way (e.g., a significant refactor that simplifies or improves architectural quality, enables us to maintain a competitive advantage, offers significant extensibility, performance, scalability, or has organization-wide operational excellence impact). Identify and tackle intrinsically hard problems. (e.g., highly complex, ambiguous, undefined, with less existing structure, or having significant business or security risk or potential for significant impact).
  • Deliver artifacts that set the standard within your organization for engineering excellence, from designs to algorithms to implementations. Your personal code submissions and reviews of other peoples code are instructive and make the overall code corpus better.
  • Lead and actively participate in design reviews, aligning teams across your organization towards coherent architectural strategies. You bring clarity to complexity, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding.
  • You are a pragmatic problem solver, applying judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests. You are flexible, adapting your approach to meet the needs of the team, project, and product.
  • Actively recruit as well as participate in the hiring/interview process.

  • Provide conceptual analyses for a variety of broad and complex issues
  • Manage all products from design to implementation and ongoing performance according to business need
  • Ensure all technology standards are developed, understood and adhered to operationally around the globe
  • Ensure that Citi makes appropriate strategic choices in onboarding, managing and exiting of vendors from the product portfolio

    • 15+ years of relevant experience in a product line management, e-commerce, and/or strategic planning role.
    • Significant experience building complex business and/or transactional models.
    • Has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products / services in a high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.
    • Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
    • First-class leadership and influencing skills, including experience managing a Software Engineering Team
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and talent management skills, including the ability to identify and develop product management talent.
    • 15+ years of relevant experience in an Engineering role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management.
    • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
    • Project Management experience
    • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
    • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
    • Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills

    • Drive disciplines in the area of Financials, SDLC and Program Management in order to have repeatable, high quality and on-time delivery.

    • Ability to understand end to end functional needs for Consumer Bank products such as Credit Cards, Loans, Deposit products, Wealth, Small business and Payments and associated regulations/reporting needs for developing a functional solution for various transformational projects
    • Capable of eliciting user requirements/stories and understand impacts against book of work as well as other programs in flight and put necessary mitigation steps
    • Manage Capability streams, Testing, Business/Operations, Architecture and Other execution streams such as vendors, technology development/modernization and Dev Ops
    • Understand strategy as well as tactical needs and jointly set priority. Communicate schedule and progress against target delivery dates
    • Develop innovative solutions focused on improving customer experience, reducing cost and accelerating time to market while being fully compliant with risk, compliance and regulatory policies of NAM and Citi globally
    • Apply appropriate development methodologies for legacy and next generation software support across multiple time-zones and geographies, working with vendors across Citi globally
