Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Materials Management Tech / Case Puller has excellent communication and organizational skills, and has the ability to perform work requiring a high degree of accuracy. They must have the ability to work and react quickly, multi-task and be an integral team member within the materials management department. They collaborate with all other hospital departments, vendors, physicians, and home office employees. They work closely with the departmental Director to achieve meeting facility goals. -Required Skills:

  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a unit work environment that reflects USPI's EDGE, performance improvement and customer service program consistent with the facilities mission statement.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and automated inventory system and establishing par levels for all supplies.
  • Ensures utilization of USPI's national agreements.
  • Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow-up and delivery of all orders.
  • Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the inventory system.
  • Conducts bi-annual physical inventory of implants and inventory items.
  • Answers phone calls while displaying courteous behavior. Screens and/or routes all calls to appropriate individual.
  • Utilizes voice and E-mail to the full extent, returns messages promptly.
  • Works closely with other departments to help understand their needs.
  • Process in house equipment repairs as needed.
  • Meets all required deadlines. Demonstrates discretionary ability in establishing priorities.
  • Understands all purchasing/receiving cycle.
  • Assists the Materials Management Tech I during their absence.
  • Greets and assists all vendor representatives. Ensures that the vendor rep signs in and receives vendor badge. Contact department to be visited for permission for rep to visit.
  • Coordinates borrowing and returning vendor owned instrument sets and supplies.
  • Works closely with the Operating Room Coordinator on entering and maintain surgeon preference cards.
  • Pulls surgical supplies for upcoming surgical procedures. Maintains a 24-48hour timeframe of pulled supplies.
  • Supports the OR and Materials Management teams in restocking unused inventory and rotate inventory adequately. Checks for expired inventory.
  • Collaborates with the Materials Buyers to maintain par levels to ensure lean inventory levels.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the Director of Materials Mgmt. Assists in other areas with a willing attitude.
  • Supports other members of Materials Management Department.
    Required Experience:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
      • Knowledge of medical terminology and supplies/vendors preferred
        • None
          Specific Job Experience
          • Two years minimum healthcare environment experience preferred -
            Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
            • Excellent Microsoft product knowledge ( including Excel, Power Point, Access and Word) required
            • Ability to assess , condense and analyze complex data
            • Regulatory expertise in all areas covered by Director
            • Strong knowledge of Health Information Management and related internal controls preferred
            • Able to communicate complex data in an effective manner to all levels of the organization
            • Must be proficient in compiling data, creating reports and presenting information, including expertise in report writing tools
            • Ability to utilize company electronic central supply and PAS systems applications.
