Job Description:

RailPros provides comprehensive consulting services for the rail industry. We specialize in areas of RWIC/railroad flagging, project management, observation and inspection, real estate, rail design and engineering, training, and media production. As a leader in our industry, RailPros' projects create long-term value for our clients from concept through operation by providing technical excellence and outstanding services. We are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to join our growing team.
Our Vice President of Engineering will set departments business goals, interacts by building business with new and existing clients and resolve internal and external issues when needed. They supervise Directors, Sr. Managers and Technical Staff and guide and evaluate each department's performance. Responsible for departments overall performance (Revenue, Quality and Employee Utilization) and identifying and implementing new business opportunities and services Ensure departmental compliance with company policies.
Primary Duties:


  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company. Bottom line: Build an attractive, growing, and successful company across all business sectors
  • Responsible for driving the region, territory, or function to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives. (Grow Company's bottom line)
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit, and retain a high-performance talent; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program
  • Act as lead "client-care officer" through direct contact with every client and business partner
  • Represent the firm with clients, investors, and business partners
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
  • Expand new markets, services, and client base
  • Implement new efficiencies and mange G&A cost
  • Prepare and implement business plans and forecast ROI
  • Oversee projects associated with assigned key account, including but not limited to new development, internal and external communication, pilot programs and the timely addressing any support and service issues that may arise
  • Develop and manage department budgets and revenue forecasts - Grow the Business
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs.
    Required Qualifications:

    • Candidate must reside within Central US States - Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis
    • Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in Class 1 or Transit Rail engineering or Maintenance of Way.
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree (will consider work experience in lieu of degree)
    • Deep knowledge of Railroad and Rail Transit M/W and engineering services both internal and contracted
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse workforce and multiple projects simultaneously
    • degree in Engineering or related degree. PE
    • Proficient in client contracts and procurements requirements. Coordinates and implements contractors' work, and resolves any disputes over labor, scheduling, or payments
      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Advanced degree in Engineering
