Job Description:

The President plans, leads, coordinates, manages and oversees engineering, operations,communications, national and regional marketing activities and committees to support the Strategic Plan, focusing on increasing the market share of precast concrete pipe and box culverts by promoting their attributes. Works with Executive Committee, Board of Directors, members and staff to develop plans to meet goals of the Association. The President understands the ACPA's and the Foundation's Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Strategic Plan, and their policies and procedures. This includes their financial and legal situations and issues. As the ACPA's ambassador, the President acts as a spokesperson for the concrete pipe industry in the United States and throughout the world. Essential Job Functions1. Responsible for the implementation of and to carry out the goals of the Strategic Plan, utilizing members and staff to achieve regular communications through ACPA media outlets and at ACPA and Foundation meetings.2. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.3. Responsible for coordinating and orchestrating quarterly discussions with regional Board(s) of Advisors to communicate and achieve buy-in for high priority initiatives and actions of the ACPA.4. Working with the Board's Nominating Committee, the President recruits new Board members whose vision aligns with the organization.5. Manages performance evaluations and succession planning and plays a crucial role in new Board member orientation.6. Creates opportunities for continuing education for Board members, staff and committee leaders, and works to develop future leaders.7. Develops strong relationships with outside partners and internal staff to move ACPA goals forward.a. Actively participates at various AASHTO meetingsb. Actively participates at various ASTM meetingsc. Actively participates at industry meetingsd. Coordinates with ACPA staff to accomplish initiatives as assigned8. Responsible for the development of the overall budget for annual approval by the Board.9. Responsible for fiscal management that ensures operation within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.10. Teams with staff liaisons and members to achieve ACPA Committee initiatives of both ACPA and the ACPA Foundation, including Infrastructure, Government Relations, Quality, Safety, Research, and Associates Committees.11. Communicates and addresses requests, concerns and needs from members on a daily basis, as part of ensuring superior member and associate member customer service.12. Responsible for the supervision of the ACPA Foundation's operations and fiscal management under its separate Bylaws.13. Other duties as assigned. Other Responsibilites1. Assists in the completion of assigned tasks of the StrategicPlan. 2. All other duties as assigned by the Board. Proficiencies Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Expensify and a working knowledge of SmartSheet. Requirements 1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field. 2. Registered Professional Engineer is a plus. 3. Master's in Business or Marketing is a plus. 4. If licensed, must maintain Professional Engineers' License and any professional development hours in accordance with local state board minimum requirementsfor licensure. Other Skills/Abilities Demonstrated community leadership; respect of Board members andkey stakeholders; ability to lead the Board in handling difficult issues; and the ability to communicate, listen and seek input from others. The President must have strong delegation and supervision skills. Strong group dynamic skills are essential to keep meetings running smoothly and to deal with conflicts as they arise. Must be able to quickly understand member needs and respond timely to address those needs. Language and Communication Skills Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos and contracts. Ability to comfortably and effectively present information in one-on-one, small and large group situations to members, ACPA employees, industry professionals, politicians and other groups. Ability to timely respond to customers, both internally and externally, utilizingdiplomatic skills to accomplish goals. Ability to effectively communicateon many different levels with all types of people. Ability to get messages across to staff, owners and members. Ability to use a wide array of communication vehicles, including verbal, written and body language techniques, to establish rapport. Mathematical Skills Ability to understand mathematical concepts inherent in engineering. Ability to utilize mathematical concepts to prepare budgets, analyze profit & loss statements, and balance sheets. Motivational Skills Capable of building strong teams and developing positive relationships among team members by understanding and addressing the individual needs and concerns of staff. Staff Measurement Skills Proficient in establishing specific metrics that inform staff of their individual performance and provide basis for employee recognition and development. Self-Management Skills This position requires a high degree of self-motivation and theability to work independently for long stretches of time. Employee must be able to self-prioritize their workload, ensuring that internal and external customers' needs are met. Collaborative Skills This position requires the ability to work collaboratively withother engineers, employees, and members to plan and implement strategies to meet ACPA strategic goals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply higher reasoning necessary to understand and explain engineering and management concepts. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
