Billing Support Advocate

Job duties include assessing the patient's ability to pay, establishing payment arrangements, counseling patients for financial assistance, following-up to facilitate prompt and accurate resolution of outstanding balances. The position requires follow up on patient's bill and assisting patients with questions regarding billing and insurance questions over the phone. Excellent customer service and listening skills are necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Communicates between internal billing teams and sales representatives to provide support for any issues related to patient bills. * Works closely with sales team representatives and billing office representatives to ensure ongoing communication and resolution of discrepancies and missed opportunities. * Learns, understands and identies client/customer problems and recognize core issues. * Monitors and tracks appropriate requests to ensure encounters and activities are appropriately captured. * Resolves requests escalated by the sales team through current ticketing system. * Follows up on all claims from billing through final resolution. * Reviews claims for accuracy and verification of diagnostic/procedural coding and provides documentation required for complete billing. * Completes billing in a timely and urgent manner to ensure all claims are filed prior to filing deadlines. * Records information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts. * Computes, classifies, and records numerical data to keep financial records complete. * Reviews contracts, identifies billing or coding issues, and requests re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

* High school diploma required. * Minimum 1-2 years of collections experience within the healthcare field. * Knowledge of Medical CPT codes. * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. * Must be willing to help others when needed. * Must be willing to work overtime if/when required. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Problem solving skills, using good judgment, and attention to detail are a must. * Must be able to prioritize work, multi-task, and manage time efficiently
