Purpose of the Job

As the Irving Plant Financial Analyst, you will report to the Plant Controller. You will be responsible for supporting operational decision making for the largest roofing plant through daily manufacturing reporting, metrics, financial analyses, and cost modeling. This includes, but is not limited to, support for financial forecasts, period cost monitoring, budgeting, capital investments review, and SOX controls. This role will be used as a feeder for Plant Controller positions.

Job Responsibilities

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Improve plant profitability

  • Supports actions in line with achieving targets, mitigating risk and prioritizing resource needs
  • Proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvement and corrective actions to ensure facility optimal financial results.
  • Provides insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making
  • Provide guidance and coaching to non-finance managers regarding issues of financial control and compliance

Cross-functional leadership and team contribution

  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant objectives
  • Shares best practices, i.e. process improvements, financial modeling and procedural changes
  • Aligns teams and resources in order to solve problems and drive results
  • Provide functional expertise to plant leadership and team members.
  • Support the plant data steward function as the designated back-up to that role
  • Participate in driving safety excellence
  • Participate in driving TPM excellence

TACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIESMonth End Closing activities

  • Executing the monthly financial closing process.
  • Understanding and ensuring that finance processes are compliant with SOX guidelines
  • Prepare various division level reports and analyses

Reporting and analysis

  • Supports financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Prepares and delivers the plant financial forecasts and projections
  • Communicates results effectively to management and non-financial personnel
  • Provides in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast
  • Educates plant personnel on key performance metrics

  • Timely and accurate Closing process
  • SOX Internal Audit/Management testing results
  • Financial performance vs. Plan
  • Forecast accuracy and timeliness
  • Balance Sheet Integrity
  • Key performance indicators

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years' experience in financial planning and analysis in a manufacturing operation

Knowledge and Skills:

Required

  • Knowledge of manufacturing costing principles
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical ability
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and decision making through analytics and data
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Computer skills - strong Microsoft Excel user
  • Understanding of and ability to work within SOX control environment
  • Must be willing to relocate from DFW area for future opportunities

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Delivers continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in simple impacting terms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and control costs
  • Effectively develops business cases and enroll leaders at all levels in taking appropriate action
