The Senior Enterprise Architect is a key role played by a senior technical leader, whose sustained high level of performance, technical leadership, expertise, and vision are instrumental in developing and delivering and supporting mission critical Information technology solutions. The Senior Enterprise Architect must possess a broad competency across multiple technology areas and demonstrate his or her ability to serve as a respected partner alongside the business solutions, application development and systems engineering communities. Essential Functions Expert in all phases of software engineering and/or systems engineering lifecycles within a variety of mission critical applications and computing platforms. Proven experience in project management. Highly respected as a technical leader by the software and systems engineering communities. Provides technical leadership and coaching for the enterprise. Completes tasks independently/ interdependently. Consequences of error carry a business-critical risk to the organization. Able to handle difficult situations gracefully. Capable of a high degree of multitasking. Expert knowledge of software and/or systems engineering processes obtained through formal training and/or work experience. Expert knowledge of required software engineering languages/tools and/or systems platform management technologies. Able to resolve highly complex technical problems at the enterprise level. Coaches and mentors other engineers on information technologies. Sets technical standards for the organization. Advanced knowledge of technical/business environment. Able to engage with customers without direction. Must be able to relate highly technical topics to a non-technical audience. Excellent partnering, communication, and negotiation skills so as to effectively serve as a technology leader and evangelist across the enterprise on approved IT technologies. Ability to provide leadership for multiple technology areas across the enterprise. Ability to coach the technical development of senior engineers. Ability to analyze and resolve multiple complex problems at the enterprise level. Ability to partner with vendors and industry standards organizations to deliver technical solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects using the organization's project management methodology. Ability to lead effectively in a strong customer service/team-oriented environment. Focus on internal and external customer requirements. Provide leadership in key interactions with customers to define, analyze, and deliver customer requirements. Demonstrate advanced and proficient understanding of business processes across the enterprise. Provide technical leadership as a communications liaison across IT technology departments. Develop time estimates for project schedules, monitor progress and provide accurate and timely reports. Plan and manage project activities within allocated resources. Manage resolution of enterprise level problems and escalate as required. Work across projects to synchronize deliverables. Negotiate and resolve technical issues at the enterprise level. Support the organization's project management policy, practice, and methodology. Analyze and resolve complex or multiple problems at the enterprise level. Independently research and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution. Lead problem resolution processes and actions across IT departments & technology disciplines. Analyze trends to proactively prevent problems at the enterprise level. Facilitate or complete analysis, design and programming of viable solutions to high complexity business problems according to user specifications. Provides the highest level of expertise for the development, specification, implementation, and communication of IT technology architecture plans; infrastructure components required to support it and the integration of application architectures. Expert knowledge of trends and developments within application, data, and system architectures. Participate in design review sessions and provide feedback to appropriate IT stakeholders. Develop or approve detail program specifications. Evaluate, recommend and provide guidance on emerging technologies and influence technical designs. Comply with project management methodology requirements. When difficulties arise, provide technical leadership and recommendations for system and acceptance testing practices and methodology. Test and implement systems and enhancements using techniques that preserve system integrity. Ensure that systems are functionally appropriate, technically sound and well-integrated. Understands interdependencies and acts to avoid problems across our enterprise application portfolio. Provides post-mortem feedback after a major install is complete or a major problem is resolved. Responsible for immediate response to enterprise level software and/or platform production problems. Identifies and recommends enterprise level process or system enhancements to IT technology departments. Predictive, proactive root cause analysis at the enterprise level. Develop accurate and reliable cost and benefit analysis. Manage project costs to budget. Follow established budgeting guidelines. Provide input for departmental budget. Recommend cost saving improvements. Job Requirements B.S./B.A., M.B.A./M.S, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. 10+ years of architectural design and leadership experience (large complex projects) Exposure to all phases of software development lifecycle and requirements gathering within a variety of analytical and integration technologies and applications Must have strong focus on internal and external customer requirements Excellent collaboration, communication, and negotiation skills to effectively serve as a leader and evangelist across the enterprise Demonstrate advanced understanding of complex business processes across the enterprise Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Must be comfortable making formal presentations to senior IT management and executive level clients Ability to coach and mentor others to provide leadership to analyze and resolve multiple complex problems at the enterprise level Ability to direct, coach and mentor the technical and managerial development of other engineers Ability to partner with vendors, external contacts and industry standards organizations to deliver technical solutions Must have appropriate skills with the standard workstation software utilized to perform daily duties, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. About the Company Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Hilltop Holdings offers a diverse range of financial services through its primary subsidiaries, PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, and HilltopSecurities.
