Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Global Consumer Technology (GCT) Head of Strategy & Design, the Head of Global Digital Strategy will own, define, and champion execution of GCT's Global Digital Strategy and the transformational digital technology, products and services needed for the Consumer Bank of the Future, collaborating across our Regional Chief Digital Officers, Chief Marketing Officers, CIOs and their respective digital & technology delivery teams, Digital Product Owners, key Line of Business leaders, and the Global Design team. As the custodian of the Global Digital Strategy, this leader will define and establish the near and long-term strategies and roadmaps required to simplify, scale and accelerate the delivery of digital consumer platforms and the evolution of Citi's global consumer banking operating models and technology landscape, enabling a culture of collaboration, cross-pollination and cohesiveness.

This position is a critical strategic role that will interface with and influence change with our most senior leaders at Citi. She/he/they will serve as a trusted partner who knows and understand the GCB business priorities, our regulatory environment, and our investor commitments - as well as the broader impact across the firm - then translates them into innovative customer-centric digital technology solutions. This requires a senior digital technologist with deep knowledge of future-forward digital frameworks, digitally-led sales and marketing, robust digital engagement strategies, process and controls automation, employee experience digitization, and optimized integration of cloud technologies. This leader will also be a key figure in digital thought leadership and planning aligned with our growth vectors in wealth management, lending, market expansion, and other related emerging business opportunities enabled by modern technology and digitization. Leveraging market research and trends, both technology and business-related, this leader will bring valuable insights and data-driven recommendations to propel Citi's digital aspirations.

In parallel they will ensure that we continuously strengthen our Global Digital governance framework and delivery processes, responsible for ensuring that regional Digital Technology leads within GCB are making coordinated adjustments, training, and monitoring to adapt the organization to an ever-changing digital landscape with a keen focus on shifting client expectations and an evolving regulatory environment.

This leader has exceptional abilities in analysis, critical thinking, communication and influencing, and has a proven track record of delivering transformational agendas, thinking out of the box and thriving in ambiguous situations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with not only leading and influencing but also diving into the technical weeds and rolling up her/his/their sleeves.


  • Define, manage, adapt, and communicate a global digital strategy and set of pillars and programs necessary for the Digital Consumer Bank of the Future, addressing all aspects of the digital agenda (Technology, Digital, Business)

  • Partner with global digital stakeholders (Technology, Digital, Business) to identify needs, validate pain points, and determine the high-level value proposition / business case for implementing innovative, relevant, and cost-effective technology solutions. Deploy techniques such as hypotheses development, current state analysis, data and analytics, and business case development to establish near and long-term technology priorities.

  • Drive market analysis and prioritize requirements; work with architects, business stakeholders, research teams, product, domain, and application owners, and key partners to define tangible digital technology transformation opportunities and create strategic execution plans to deliver on company goals

  • Implement an approach to digital platform strategy evolution to proactively, reliably, and consistently know our customers, anticipate their needs, and offer context, content, and capabilities at their moment of need, following both an anticipatory design and a participatory design model, reflective of the entire spectrum of the customer lifecycle

  • Drive standardization and collaboration between regions, experiences and solutions thus enabling GCB to leverage its global scale to acquire, engage and service our customers, resulting in increased digital adoption and client satisfaction. Lead best practice forums across Digital, fostering a culture of collaboration and maintaining global digital alignment.

  • Create and define global criteria for considering strategic partnerships in expansion of digital products, channels, and emerging business opportunities under a critical technology-focused lens.

  • Provide oversight to global digital metrics, KPIs, and the scorecard; and own and manage updates to the global digital strategic framework.

  • Ensure that Citi is in compliance with digital security and privacy requirements and manage policies and procedures related to the use of our digital technology for both employees and customers

  • Act as a custodian of business roadmaps globally, while mapping all strategies in GCT back to it.

  • Implement common Digital Strategy Governance across North America, Mexico and APAC and drive the effort to close regional strategic gaps.

  • Conduct and incorporate research, insights and competitive analysis as required. Identify, interpret, and apply industry trends to establish competitive differentiation across digital channels

  • Champion an inclusive and diverse global mindset in order to attract a deep and diverse talent pool within the organization that includes effective coaching and development.


The ideal candidate will come from a global consumer banking organization and be a visionary thought leader on emerging digital innovation to support the firm-wide digital vision and supporting strategy and programs. Bachelor degree in computer science, marketing, business or a related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • 20+ years relevant work experience, including experience leading large, cross-functional teams across engineering, program management and risk & control.

  • A combination of investment, advisory, and strategic planning experience is preferred, all with a focus on the evolving Digital Finance landscape.

  • The successful candidate possesses a demonstrated ability to build a strategic road map across multiple channels and customer segments by taking into consideration industry/market dynamics, customer needs and competitive pressures.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; Data driven and results-oriented.

  • Experience in affecting large culture change.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Exceptional strategic analysis, problem solving, issue resolution and decision-making skills.
