Job Description

This position can be located out of our corporate headquarters in Albuquerque, our Houston or Irving, Texas locations. Relocation assistance provided for exceptional candidates.

Overview of the Role:

As a Project Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful and timely completion of Summit's strategic initiatives and key business projects. You will interface, communicate and coordinate with associates throughout the organization, including leaders and the executive team. You will drive effective project management. You will proactively identify project challenges and roadblocks and work with relevant team members to resolve them, thus reducing the impact on the project and its timeline.

Deliverables:

  • Keep project teams accountable and on track
  • Drive project execution and positive results
  • Direct cross functional project team coordination
  • Manage project budgets, roles/responsibilities, schedules, and timelines
  • Responsible for project metrics, communication, and updates to the executive team
  • Navigate the requirements of various project members towards a successful outcome
  • Work with team leaders on resource allocation

A successful candidate is highly organized and detail oriented. You likely have strong organizational skills. You have experience working a wide variety people, and personalities. You probably love checking things off the To Do list and get great satisfaction from bringing projects in on time and on budget. You can guide and direct execution in order to meet project goals. You bring people together and manage through conflict for a successful outcome. You work for collaboration but can also have the direct and/or hard conversation when it is required. You can spot scope creep and "surprise requirements" when you see them and have the discussion about impact on the project vs moving to a future phase. You have experience in a wide variety of project management methodologies and can select the approach best suited for a given project. You understand the core tenants of Agile and believe they drive a disciplined approach to project management. You understand that driving Summit's ability to successfully complete strategic initiatives and key business projects has a direct impact on our company's ability to provide an unmatched customer experience.

  • 7+ years of business experience
  • 5+ years in project management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • PMP certification
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to a successful and timely completion
  • Proven success in keeping project teams accountable and on track
  • Experience working within a variety of project methodologies, including Agile
  • Experience managing projects that involve technology and IT
  • Proven ability to manage cross functional project team coordination
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience with project metrics, communication, and updates
  • Can track and manage budgets
  • Can proactively spot and identify project challenges and roadblocks and coordinate with relevant team members to quickly resolve
  • Navigate project members and team conflict towards a successful outcome
  • Results driven
  • Heavy attention to detail and follow up
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications
  • Proactive problem-solving capabilities
  • Honest and persuasive communication and people skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and workstreams with competing priorities

  • Experience with project management software (Scrum, Kanban or similar)
  • Reporting tools
