Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.The Consumer Credit Risk team that supports Small Business Lending is seeking a highly motivated and experienced risk professional who loves to solve business questions, impact the bottom line of business by hands-on driven actions through systematic database solutions. Wells Fargo Small Business Lending (SBL) offers a full product suite to serve credit needs of small business owners. SBL is a technically sophisticated, entrepreneurial organization committed to applying the most advanced mathematical and data-driven technologies, in conjunction with strong judgmental underwriting discipline and expertise to small business lending.Duties may include: Developing new credit policy for large credit exposure deals; performing complex analysis and/or modeling that maximizes profits and/or asset growth and minimizes credit and/or operating losses and other risk exposures; providing analytical support on business credit, operating losses and other product strategies to ensure company goals are met; segmenting and monitoring various credit, deposit and other product groups, vintages, concentration limits, etc. and making recommendations to management based on those trends; producing performance monitoring and benchmarks regarding growth, mix, delinquency, losses and overall profitability and performance; coordinating the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for senior management; reviewing and analyzing trends in current population distributions and recommending strategies. May develop more complex programming models to extract data and/or manipulate databases to provide statistical and financial analyses. May manage the roll-out of company-wide pilot programs developed as a result of analyses.To be effective in this position, you will need to have a good understanding of credit from a full life-cycle perspective, a broad and strategic perspective on risk management, and a proven track record of using the results of your analysis to drive business decisions.--Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk roleDesired Qualifications
    • 3+ years of SAS programming experience
    • Python experience
    • Tableau experience
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsOther Desired Qualifications
      • Advanced degree in quantitative discipline such as economics, statistics, operations research, etc.
      • Excellent proficiency in programming and data manipulation using SAS, SQL, and Excel
      • Strong analytical, quantitative skills
      • Previous experience with credit risk strategy development and implementation in financial service industry
      • Ability to gather, analyze, package, and present analytical findings in an insightful and logical manner
      • Dedicated, enthusiastic, performance-orientation, and strong work ethic
      • Experience with transaction authorizations and fraud prevention analysis
      • Attention to detail, strong project management and organization skills
      • Strong partnership and problem solving skillsJob Expectations
