Job Description:
Global Risk Review (GRR) provides independent, objective, and
reliable assurance to the Board of Directors of Citigroup, the Risk
Management Committees, the Citigroup Chief Risk Officer, senior
management, and regulators over the effectiveness of credit,
capital and collateral risk management and the ability of the
Business and Independent Risk to identify, monitor and mitigate
current and emerging risks. Within GRR, the Fundamental Credit Risk
(FCR) function provides an independent review and challenge of
credit risk management.
The GRR Analytics team is responsible for developing a structured
framework and strategy to support and complement Credit Review
activities through analytical insights into various stages of
credit management. The primary objective of this framework and
execution strategy is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness
of various credit review processes using both standardized and
customized analytics.
The GRR Data Engineering Officer supports the execution and
delivery of the above mandate in close coordination with the GRR
Region Heads and Lead Reviewers.
Developmental opportunities include experience in a high
visibility, dynamic function, exposure to both Consumer and
Wholesale businesses, enhanced business contacts, interaction with
senior leadership and leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the overall framework and set execution strategies to
support and/or complement review activities and enhance remote
review capabilities.
- Drive the data extraction and quality control for raw data
feeds, model input and output data to support the analytics for GRR
Business Monitoring (BM) activities
- Develop and support the efficient data extraction from global
data repositories and establish data analysis procedures (including
alternate data sources, and protocols for entities with data
transfer restrictions).
- Productionize standardized metrics and reports.
- Design data harvesting and ingestion strategies to support a
library of standard analytics/reports available to the Lead
reviewers for the continuous assessment of portfolio quality.
Optimize and maintain the reports.
- Management of Data Extraction, Variable Creation and
Reconciliation:
- Manage and support the data extraction process from Enterprise
data repositories (e.g., Optima, Genesis, etc.) and Entity data
warehouses
- Establish the connection between the FCR libraries and the
Enterprise and Entity data warehouses for the timely transfer of
data for the review activities
- Support data extraction process from various sources of
aggregated data - Basel Risk, Loss mitigation, Citi Risk Insights,
etc. Combine data from various sources, reconcile, and feature
engineering (create derived variables)
- Manage and perform data quality checks and reasonability
checks
- Management of Analytics Tools:
- Ensure monthly/quarterly update of the GRR Analytics
dashboard(s). Ensure version control, archiving, backup, crash
recovery, etc. of the various dashboards
- Optimize the dashboard refresh for quicker and more automated
updates
- Ensure consistency of information across different dashboards,
address and resolve inconsistencies.
- User training, user access issue resolution, address
visualization anomalies, facilitate report extraction from the
dashboard(s) for various management reports and external
agencies.
- Participate as required in the validation of Corrective Action
Plans (CAPs), including the development of ad hoc analysis to
verify sustainable resolution of issues.
- Participate in analytical projects and/or reviews as needed by
GRR senior management.
- Proactive communication to GRR senior management of any
concerns and/or emerging risks in respect of Review Entities.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Advanced degree (Masters) in Software engineering, Data
engineering, Computer Science, or other data management and data
visualization disciplines
- 5+ years of experience in various data repository structures,
data extraction methods, data harvesting and retrieving, data
visualization and discovery.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in above disciplines with 8+
years of experience will be considered (in lieu of Master's with 5+
years of experience)
- Hands-on experience with one or more data visualization
software, e.g., Tableau, Arcadia, etc.
- Experience with analytical / statistical tools - SAS, SQL,
Python, Machine Learning, etc. will be a plus
- Experience in risk management, credit policy / strategy in
financial services. Experience with different lending products
(retail / wholesale) and different geographies will be a plus.
Skills/Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills with hands on experience data
visualization, data extraction, data & process automation, and
ability to connect analytics with business decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the
ability to interact with all levels of management and to external
audiences
- Detailed-oriented, high level of intellectual curiosity and
strong sense of ownership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build
relationships and exert influence without direct authority.
- Demonstrated project management skills, and ability to
multi-task effectively and work against tight deadlines
- Familiarity with Citi credit policies and FCR processes will be
a plus.
