Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install plumbing
systems, services, and equipment for the District. Maintain and
provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing
systems and fixtures in District facilities.
High School Diploma or GED, required
Valid Texas Journeyman Plumber License, required
Documented Trade School plumbing courses, preferred
Valid Class C Texas driver's license and proof of insurability with
District insurance carrier
Knowledge and skills to qualify as a Journeyman plumber in
accordance with industry standards
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and plumbing
(water and sewer) diagrams
Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and
Ability to supervise and train plumbing staff
Ability to follow and issue written and verbal instructions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Basic computer skills
Ability to utilize technology resources relevant to position
Minimum five years plumbing industry experience; public education
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and components
as well as fixtures and all types of lines and water heaters.
Determine best approach to solving tasks after carefully evaluating
work site to ensure safety for site occupants and/or facility users
while project is underway.
Outline projects and works with minimal oversight.
Review and inspect assigned tasks to adequately order required
materials and supplies for the job.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and written
reference material outlining the scope of various projects.
- Install new equipment, including but not limited to commodes,
lavatories, sinks, water, gas and sewer lines, piping, drains,
grease traps, water heaters and pee-traps, and unstop plumbing
components as needed.
Records and Reports
- Record all materials and supplies used and man-hours
accumulated on projects until scope of work is accomplished to keep
the foreman informed on total job costs.
Provide ongoing guidance and on the job training for plumbing
Serve on-call periodically for emergencies that occur at night, on
weekends, and during holidays; and respond to pages and calls in a

and serve as role model for staff and public.
