Overview
The Construction Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and
executing the accounting operations relating to new development and
renovations projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the cash management and oversight of each
development and renovation project and related entity, including
payments to contractors and professionals, processing of wires,
transfers, as well as the collection of fees, loan disbursements
and equity contributions.
- Perform data entry and review of Subcontractor & Supplier monthly
project invoices and AIA pay applications. Track overall
Development and Renovation draw status; inclusive of receipt date
of draws and source funding, as well as vendor invoice and payment
detail.
- Ensure all invoices and pay applications are accrued properly and
timely to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
- Prepare monthly and periodic Development Project funding
requisition packages for submission to lenders and investors in
accordance with their respective loan and ownership agreements.
- Execute Supplier payment runs and Subcontractor draw payment runs
for each Development and Renovation Project.
- Track compliance items relating to Development Project Supplier
and Subcontractor lien waivers, as well as insurance and W-9's for
Development and Renovation projects .
- Reconcile vendor statements, inquiries and inconsistencies.
- Review Development Project job cost activity monthly to ensure
consistent and proper coding.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and research all outstanding
stale checks, invoice related issues and discrepancies.
- Responsible for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and
financial reporting.
- Work with Development Project Managers on a monthly basis to
prepare forecasts, and to report variances.
- Obtain Renovation Project forecasts on a monthly basis to support
cash forecasting
- Enter new job budgets provided by Project Management teams and
update in accounting and construction software as needed.
- Maintain internal control safeguards and assist in any external
audit requests as needed.
- Collect, code, and obtain approvals for miscellaneous project
expenses. Review cost code activity for accuracy.
- Ensure that the Company is in continuous compliance with all
statutory, regulatory, banking, tax, and other external and
internal operating , reporting and record keeping requirements to
which the company is subject.
- Ability to do some travel and work overtime as necessary to
complete assigned duties.
